O'Neill: Incoming Cvancara not the answer to Celtic's problems

Celtic boss Martin O'Neill has suggested incoming striker Tomas Cvancara is not the answer to his side's problems.

Your Site News have reported that the Hoops have agreed a deal to sign the Borussia Monchengladbach striker, with Cvancara pictured on Tuesday flying to Scotland ahead of his medical.

Asked whether he fit the bill as a John Hartson or Chris Sutton-type physical striker, he said: "No, he's not actually a target man, believe it or not. He's not one that you're just going to, he's quite quick and he's not really that.

"That's something I just want to say to you, that he's not the John Hartson type orI suppose when Chris [Sutton] played alongside Henrik Larsson, but he's quick, and he's agile, and he wants to prove himself.

"But if you think that he's the immediate answer to any sort of problem we have, I'm not sure that I would really throw that sort of responsibility on him."

When asked if there could be other new signings before Sunday's trip to Tynecastle, O'Neill said: "Obviously this game takes the immediate priority. We get back on Friday and we're working away, but I couldn't really tell you at this minute."

The likes of Arne Engels and Daizen Maeda have been linked with moves away.

"If some of our players are attracting interest, that's well done to them," he said. "But I would like to think we could add to the squad, and I want to see what happens after that."

The 23-year-old midfielder has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal at Vicarage Road.

Watford FC is pleased to announce the signing of Edoardo Bove on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

Bove suffered a cardiac arrest in December 2024.

He has already been out on the training field with the clubs medical staff and his return to full training will be phased.

A return to competitive action is expected between four to six weeks.
